Hey ya'll you all! This post is dedicated to listing what we have growing here at the Farmhouse. The Orchard can be found in front of the house and as it's name implies, it nurtures a majority of our fruit. Secondly, we have a veggie garden inside a fenced in 16' x 16', including 2 raised beds.  Third, we have to construct our corn field! Approximately 11' x 20' fenced, and two 9' x 9' plots inside to be used in succession. Lastly, we have an almost 200 year old Muscadine grape vine which is in need of being pruned out badly.
The Orchard:

 

All the fruit trees and bushes are about 2 years old. Not all have arrived yet, but 5 of the 8 bushes/trees are in the soil. February 1st the orange tree went into the ground (previously in a 5 gallon planter for about a year. On the 7th of February, we planted the Parfianka Pomegranate and Meyer's Lemon trees as they arrived yesterday morning. When planting the trees we carved 2' diameter by 1' to 18" deep holes in the sandy soil, applying Planter's Gold and Earth Recharge. Considering investing in a peat moss/perlite mix to mix with the Planter's Gold and Earth Recharge for the next 3 trees this week. Back to the planting, we planted 2 Redharvest Raspberr bushes about 2' from two Blueberry Bluecrop bushes, just off our front porch and in front of the orchard.

The house itself has such history there are actually horse drawn carriage indentations in the ground separating our front porch and the orchard. We are attempting to preserve this history and utilize the space remaining in our front yard.

After planting the bushes and trees we mixed about 1/4 gallon of fresh compost tea with about 4 1/2 gallons of well water. We applied a 5 gallon bucket to each tree and split one between the bushes. Hopefully with the fresh tea and Earth Recharge, the soil should be coming back to life progressively by the day. Soil samples to be taken today or tomorrow so we can track our progress over the next few weeks and months.
